Harnessing the River Murray: voices from the past and life in River Murray lock construction camps 1915-1935
South Australia played a significant part in the ambitious scheme to control the waters of the Murray with a series of locks and weirs. SA was responsible for the construction of Locks 1 to 9 and hundreds of men were employed by the SA E&WS Department on the works.
