Henry Allchurch was born on 14 September 1859, in Brighton, Sussex, England, the son of Edward Allchurch and Ann Pont. Edward and Ann emigrated to Australia from Plymouth, Devon on 23 January 1866, aboard the ship, Atalanta. The family at that time included Henry, aged 6, and sisters Emily and Anne. A further sister, Atalanta Hope, named after the ship, was born during the voyage (she is reportedly the first white woman to live in Alice Springs). They arrived in Port Adelaide on 15
April 1866.
In 1919 Henry purchased section 93 in the Hundred of Adelaide, and turned it into the 370 allotment subdivision of Kurralta Park, a south western suburb of Adelaide. Kurralta Park subdivision / Henry Allchurch
